Head of the Council of Europe attended the first time voters campaign 2017

The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana, Claus Neukirch, attended today a voting exercise of the "Ismail Qemali" senior high school students in Tirana. The exercise was organized within the framework of a project of the Academy of Political Studies for the education of first-time voters for the 25 June elections.

European Integration in the focus of the third course of the School

The third national course of ASPS on “Albania and the trends of European integration” was held in Durres from 5-7 May 2017. The objective of this course was to provide the participants with substantial knowledge on the EU and the European integration process, in order to help them better understand Albania’s challenges in its path towards the EU.

APS implements awareness raising campaign for first time voters 2017

Academy of Political Studies started on March the implementation of the programme “Awareness raising campaign for first time voters in Albania” on the framework of the parliamentary elections of 18 June 2017. The programme is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sport and the Central Electoral Commission to reach all the secondary schools in Albania (356 schools) addressing about 34 000 students first time voters.

Second ASPS national course on “Leadership development and political representation”

The second national course of the Albanian School of Political Studies on the topic "Leadership development and political representation", was held on 7-9 April 2017 in Gjirokastra. Thanks to the best expertise as well as open discussions, participants of the program had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and be trained on important aspects of their careers.

Sharing best experience on combating corruption in Balkans and Vishegrad countries

The Tirana town hall meeting of the initiative "Western Balkans Anti-corruption Forum" was held on 17 mars 2017 at the premises of the Innovation Hub Tirana. Over 40 young politicians, elected individuals and representatives from public and local administration, business and media discussed about the "anti-corruption strategy and the impact of corruption on economic growth in Albania and the region"

First ASPS national course on political campaigns and elections

The first national course of the Albanian School of Political Studies named "Political campaigns and electoral systems", took place in Pogradec from 19-21 February 2016. The invited experts shared the best of local and international practices.

APS conducts the survey on voter's training needs

Academy of Political Studies is conducting a survey related to an assessment study on training needs of vulnerable voter groups in four regions of Albania (Tirana, Shkodra, Fier and Gjirokastra). The study is being conducted in cooperation with the Central Election Commission and the OSCE Presence in Tirana thanks to the contribution from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Energy Efficiency Law Implementation in 2016 Monitoring Presented

The results of a monitoring process on the Energy Efficiency law implementation was presented in a round-table, promoting a constructive discussion among different actors in this sector. One year after the entrance in force, much more needs to be done in observance of the obligations defined by this law, and the commitments of the Albanian institutions.

Alumni discuss with the head of Swiss Parliament, Ms. Markwalder

The Swiss model of direct democracy was the main topic of the discussion of alumni of the School with Ms. Christa Markwalder, head of the Swiss Parliament, at the premises of the Center for Openness and Dialogue. Mrs. Markwalder evaluated the high level of discussion and underlined as very important the educational program of the School, especially at these moments when we need a political leadership.

The School participates in the World Forum for Democracy 2016

The participants of the Albanian School of Political Studies participated from 6-10 November 2016 at the fifth World Forum for Democracy, organized by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. This event gathered about 2,000 people – especially participants of 21 Schools of Political Studies, political leaders, civil society activists, media representatives and youth - under the main theme "Education as the face of new challenges to democracy".
