APS trains local authorities on decision-making
Academy of Political Studies (APS), in addition to its national programme addressing young political leaders, is developing a training programme focused on newly elected local officials aiming to strengthen their capacities and leadership at local level. The first course of this program was held in Tirana on 27-29 January 2012, under the thematic "Decision-making, policy and local finances".

he European Parliament Delegation for Relations with South-East Europe held today a debate with participants of the Albanian School of Political Studies. MEPs Eduard Kukan (Head of Delegation), Victor Bostinaru (Vice / Chairman) and members Tanja Fajon, Stanimir Ilchev, Michail Tremopoulos, discussed with the participants of the School the challenges and the prospects of Albania?s European integration, at an important moment for the country?s progress in this regard.
ASPS part of the regional energy conference in Belgrade
Belgrade - "Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence" held on October 17-19, 2011 in Belgrade the regional activity "Energy-Development-Democracy: Shaping a New Energy Future for South-East Europe". This activity brought together representatives of parliaments, ministers, heads of institutions, experts, business representatives and civil society and media from across the region, with the aim to exchange experience in meeting targets set for energy efficiency.
Diploma Ceremony
Thursday, October 20th, Tirana - During a graduation ceremony today the Albanian School of Political Studies (ASPS) handed over diplomas to a new group of students. All 23 students were issued diplomas upon successful completion of a one-year period of study. In the presence of the President of the Republic, Mr. Bamir Topi, the Swiss Ambassador, H.E. Yvana Enzler, and the Head of Council of Europe, Mr. Marco Leidekker, the ASPS staff issued diplomas, congratulated the new graduates and called for a continuation of support to the school.
Public Dialogue on Sustainable Use of Energy in Albania
TIRANA, 4 October 2011 - It was held at the premises of the German Embassy in Tirana the forum "Public Dialogue on Sustainable Use of Energy in Albania". In this event organized by the Academy of Political Studies (ASP) and GIZ Albania, in cooperation with KfW and "Goethe Institute", took part members of the Parliament (Mr. Jemin Gjana, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Mr. Sherefedin Shehu, Mr. Besnik Baraj, Mr. Selami Xhepa), deputy mayor of Tirana, Mr. Edmond Panariti, experts from state institutions like METE, AKBN and other institutions, civil society, independent experts involved in energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy sources (RES) issues, associations of professionals (architects and engineers), journalists from several TV?s and Newspapers, banking sector, academic institutions.

Fifth Course of ASPS - Durres 2011
The course was held in Durres from 16-19 June 2011. It focused on the functional state and the relations between the powers in democracy. The first dimension was related to local democracy and institutions in Albania and the other one on regional and international matters and institutions.
Fourth Course of ASPS - Pogradec 2011
The crisis of political leadership, global competition, shrinking markets and margins, increasing cynicism and mistrust are some of the aspects featuring the difficult times the world is undergoing today and which require exceptional leadership. This was the incentive that led to the designation and conducting of the third national seminar of ASPS aiming to develop an understanding and practical application of effective creative leadership, generative versus reactive thinking skills and productive approaches for the future. The seminar took place in Hotel Millenium, Pogradec, 10-12 June.
Third Course of ASPS - Vlora 2011
The third course of the Albanian School of Political Studies took place in Hotel International Vlore, from 14-17 April 2011. The focus of this course was good governance, globalisation and sustainable development vs. democracy.
Second course of ASPS - Durres 2011
The second course of the Albanian School of Political Studies took place in Hotel Belvedere Durres, from 10-13 March 2011. The aim of this course was to provide an introduction of theoretical and applied approach of political communication which is taking a growing role and importance in modern media societies.
