On July 4, 2022, started the implementation of the first “BRIDGE Training of Facilitators Workshop” for the election management bodies in Albania. Part of the 9-days training are 18 administrative staff of Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Albania and trainers with expertise in civic education.
The Academy of Political Studies (ASP) is implementing the workshop with the support and in close partnership with Council of Europe and International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), under the guidance of BRIDGE facilitators Doina Bordeianu, Zage Filiposki and Corneliu Pasat.
The primary objective of the workshop, is to enhance the capacity of CEC Albania in providing modern, qualitative and effective training and education programs in improving electoral participation and administration in Albania.
This objective shall be achieved through following specific objectives:
• to train participants in the use of the BRIDGE participatory methodology and curriculum in cross-cultural environments;
• to provide participants with knowledge and experience to plan, organise and conduct BRIDGE workshops consistent with the rules of BRIDGE;
• to prepare and equip participants to represent BRIDGE values and facilitate workshops to the required standard.
The acquisition of the BRIDGE methodology is expected to diversify and to modernize the training delivery methods of CEC Albania based on adult-learning principles and to develop in house skills for curriculum writing.
In September, it is expected to be provide a second phase of mentorship of Albanian BRIDGE co-facilitators to train electoral commissioners and/or to prepare the training curricula for targeted beneficiaries of the electoral training program of the CEC respectively (youth, women, minorities, vulnerable groups, etc).
