The Central Election Commission and the Academy of Political Studies signed today the Memorandum of Understanding for the Youth Education on Local Elections of June 30, 2019. This program will be implemented for the fifth time in Albania in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth. The campaign will target over 35,000 matura studentd (first-time voters) in every high schools within the country, aiming at informing them about the process and encouraging them to participate in the elections.
The chairman of CEC, Mr. Klement Zguri and ASP director, Mr. Erjon Tase stressed the positive experience of cooperation between the two institutions, which is offered also to ensure the strategic development of electoral education and accreditation of training curricula that are offered to the electoral bodies. Part of this agreement is also the implementation of the application for smartphones “Voto2019”, aiming to inform the voters in general about the process and denouncing negative phenomena during the electoral campaign.
The education program for the first time voters is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in co-operation with the Council of Europe, under the pre-election assistance in Albania.
