The Academy of Political Studies started the implementation of the "Leadership Academy Program" (LAP), a program of the Center of Expertise of the Council of Europe, focusing on fostering leadership and management capacities of senior public and local administration. The implementation of the project aims to adapt the LAP curriculum in the Albanian context and to assist in its accreditation by the Albanian School of Public Administration (ASPA), for the purpose of incorporating it into the training of senior level of civil servants.
A group of local experts, selected by the network of lecturers and alumni of the Academy and ASPA, are also working under the supervision of an international expert to be certified by the Council of Europe as future LAP trainers in Albania. This intervention is realized thanks to the project "Strengthening Local Government Structures in Albania", funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
Following the preparation of the curriculum, it is envisaged that the "Leadership Academy Program" will be piloted with a cycle addressing local government authorities who will undergo a three-stage training focused at leadership for organizations, leadership and strategy and leadership for capacity building based on the 12 principles of good governance of the Council of Europe. At the end of the training, participants will be certified by the Council of Europe and the Albanian School of Public Administration, based on the official credit system.
