On 5-7 June 2009, the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence organised a three-day seminar on the topic “Energy Security and Environmental Protection - New Arguments for Regional Co-operation”. The Albanian School of Political Studies was represented in this event by its alumni as well as experts in the field of energy and environment.
Among the issues widely discussed in the seminar were:
- Environmental Policies in the Western Balkans
- Regional Energy Security and Solidarity
- Alternative Energy Resources (Renewable Energy Resources and Nuclear Energy)
- Environmental Protection and Environmental Energy Policy
- Improvement of Energy Efficiency
- The presentation of the political schools and their role in the Western Balkans

Emerging Think Thanks from the Western Balkans as well as the International Relations Forum, European Movement in Serbia, Belgrade, the National Agency of Natural Resources, Tirana, and the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Montenegro presented research papers on the most pressing issues of energetic and environmental security in the Balkans. All the participants in this event had a very good opportunity to discuss, present and debate for various issues and to come to conclusion that collaboration and good coordination among the countries in the region are always more productive than ever in order to implement good policies for respective countries and their communities..
