Enhancing knowledge and skills on academic writing and political discourse occupies a significant place in the Albanian School of Political Studies Program for 2009. In this framework, ASPS organized during March-April 2009, a cascade of training seminars on academic writing as an important means for political discourse and political communication with Prof Alban Bala from the Institute of Public Relations.

The ultimate goal of the training seminars is to provide the ASPS' participants with well-defined linguistic methods in order to produce a clear, logical and coherent text when writing policy strategies, reports, speeches and other important politic documents to different addresses. Unlike the previous year, when the program included only one seminar for academic writing, where the participants were introduced to a relevant guideline, this year the program has considerably expanded - 8 training seminars have been conducted thus far. During the seminars, the participants have been provided with knowledge and techniques of academic writing, followed by examples from discursive practices of national and international leaders.

Group work and case studies have been extensively employed as working methods, with a view to receive immediate and straightforward feedback for texts produced by the participants. ASPS ensures follow-up to these seminars by encouraging its participants' active inputs in the ASPS online forum www.politika.al.
