The Academy of Political Studies started the implementation of the project “Starting from the grass-roots: Civil society Role in the EU Integration Process in Albania”, in the framework of IPA II - European Union Integration Facility 2014, in cooperation with the Institute of International Sociology in Gorizia (Italy) and the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy (Poland). The project aims to promote a structured dialogue between civil society organizations and Local Authorities in Shkodra, Lezha, Durrės, Vlora and Fier with the aim of contributing to the process of integration into the European Union of the country. This objective should be achieved by identifying common interests, potential partnerships, and obstacles to further engagement of civil society, particularly at the local level of governance.

This should be achieved with the capacity of these actors as well as a study visit to Poland, followed by the establishment of the Civil Society Forum as a sustainable exchange and cooperation platform, based on Polish experience and established with the assistance of Polish and Italian experts. The project is funded by the European Union and implemented under the auspices of the Albanian Ministry of Finance and Economy.
